Mrs Anne Hill  Class Teacher  Anne was born in Plymouth, Devon in 1958. Her father (now retired) was a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and her mother is a retired Primary school teacher. Anne's formative years were spent travelling from one Medway town to another until finally settling in Chatham. Educated at Chatham Grammar School, Anne won an exhibition to study History at Selwyn College, Cambridge. It was there that she met Shaun, who was also reading History , although he matriculated a year earlier. Six months after graduating, Anne married Shaun and moved to Blakeney. The next eight years were devoted to raising two children (Emily and Alex ) whilst working part-time at the Post Office and involving herself in the community by running Playgroup and Guides and helping at the Glaven Centre. When Alex reached the age of five and had settled into Blakeney School, Anne completed a one-year P.G.C.E at the U.E.A. and subsequently taught at Wells C.P and Bawdeswell Primary School. Just as Alex followed Emily to Fakenham High a dream vacancy came up at Blakeney. Both children look back on their time at Blakeney with affection. Emily, in particular, feels the school inspired her passion for writing. After gaining a First in English at Glasgow University she is now a journalist in London. Alex sometimes wishes he was still there now with the extra sporting opportunities the children have - he is currently studying Sports Science at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.Anne's hobbies include reading, and spending quality time on the family's narrow boat 'Nouveau Lady' exploring the canals of England with her husband and friends. |
